Employee recognition is an integral part of a healthy company culture. It has been found that managers who are constantly praise their employees have lower turnover rate and 79 percent of employees who quit their job have mentioned the lack of appreciation as a key factor for leaving. Therefore recognition and praising is considered to be key point that determine a company`s growth and productivity.

However even knowing this we tend to be a critical lot. Even when the things are going well, we’re busy finding the errors.

Many a time, we have thought of appreciating employees or co workers for their excellent work. However, at last moment we decide to step back because we didn’t know what to say and how to convey it.

First of all let`s understand that what praising/compliment is?

 

A praising/compliment is a polite expression that you show your admiration for an individual. Praising at workplace is kind way to express your gratitude and appreciation for doing the “right thing”. Praising must come from heart, are truthful and are executed professionally in the workplace.

Most people enjoy recognition and celebration is a great way to do so. Ask the people who are doing the “right things” what celebration might means to them (within appropriate boundaries).

4. REMEMBER THE ANNIVERSARY DATE OF YOUR EMPLOYEES.

Keep track of your employees anniversaries like date of birth, marriage anniversary etc and commemorate the event with a friendly card and other memento etc.

You may also encourage higher employee retention by making making a celebration out of every yearly celebration anniversary. This is simple way that you appreciate your employees’ efforts year in and year out.

 

5. DON`T FORGET TO GIVE CREDIT WHERE CREDIT IS DUE

Especially for the big triumphs giving more responsibility is the best way of rewarding the best or star employees. This being another creative way to offer praise is to reward your team member with new work or responsibility they are interested in.
