Go with the Flow or Let it Flow? Finding the Balance

Go with the Flow or Let it Flow? Finding the Balance

Go with the Flow or Let it Flow? Finding the Balance

Life throws a lot our way. Sometimes it feels like we're just surfing a wave, trying not to wipe out. Other times, we might feel the urge to grab the paddle and steer ourselves in a specific direction. So, what's the best approach? Should we just "go with the flow" and accept whatever happens, or should we actively try to "shape the flow" and chase our goals?

Going with the Flow

Imagine a calm river. Going with the flow means being open to new experiences and adapting to changing circumstances. It's about being flexible and not getting stressed if things don't go exactly according to plan. Here are some benefits:

  • Reduced stress: Less pressure to control everything can lead to a calmer and more peaceful life.
  • Openness to opportunities: You might discover something amazing by being open to new experiences.
  • Enjoy the ride: Sometimes, the best part of life is just experiencing the journey, not just the destination.

Letting the Flow Go

Now, imagine that calm river turning into rapids. Letting the flow go completely can mean missing out on opportunities or letting your dreams slip away. Here's why taking charge can be important:

  • Achieving goals: If you have a clear vision for your life, you need to take action to make it happen.
  • Building a better future: Sometimes, shaping the flow means making difficult choices and putting in the effort to reach your goals.
  • Developing skills and knowledge: By actively pursuing your interests, you can learn and grow.

The Sweet Spot: Finding Balance

The truth is, neither extreme is ideal. The best approach is to find a balance between going with the flow and shaping the flow. Here are some tips:

  • Know your goals: Having a clear idea of what you want to achieve can help you navigate life's currents.
  • Be adaptable: Things will change, so be prepared to adjust your plans when necessary.
  • Embrace opportunities: Don't be afraid to step outside your comfort zone and try new things.
  • Take action: While being open, don't be afraid to take charge and make things happen.

Life is a journey, not a destination. By finding the balance between going with the flow and shaping it, you can navigate life's currents with more ease and reach your full potential.

Conversation Connoisseur: Mastering the Art of Meaningful Connections

Conversation Connoisseur: Mastering the Art of Meaningful Connections

10 ways to turn conversations into captivating connections, all wrapped up in fresh phrasing:

  1. Be a Conversation Chef, Not a Microwave Dinner: Conversations shouldn't be reheated one-liners. Craft interesting questions and follow-ups, like a chef preparing a delicious meal with fresh ingredients.

Example: Instead of "How was your weekend?" try, "Did you get to do anything fun this weekend? I was thinking of checking out that new art exhibit, have you heard anything about it?"

  1. Listen Like You're Waiting for the Punchline (Even if There Isn't One): Active listening is key. Lean in, make eye contact, and show genuine interest. Imagine you're waiting for the funniest part of a joke, even in serious conversations.

Example: When someone is talking about their day, don't interrupt with your own story. Briefly acknowledge what they've said with a nod or "uh-huh" and ask clarifying questions to show you're engaged.

  1. Embrace the Unexpected Twist: Conversations are like journeys, not train rides on a set schedule. Be open to where the conversation takes you, like exploring a new city with hidden alleyways and surprise discoveries.

Example: If someone mentions a hobby you never knew they had, delve deeper! Ask them "Wow, that's fascinating! Tell me more about your experience with [hobby]."

  1. Celebrate the Symphony, Not Just Your Solo: Conversations are a beautiful exchange, not a competition. Appreciate the other person's unique perspective, like enjoying the different instruments in an orchestra that create a harmonious sound.

Example: Avoid constantly bringing the conversation back to yourself. If they mention a challenging experience, offer a supportive word or share a similar situation you faced.

  1. Dig Deeper Than Surface Level Likes: Go beyond "What's your favorite movie?" Explore the "why" behind their preferences.

Example: "That's a great movie! What resonated with you most about the story?"

  1. Turn Up the Spotlight: Shine the light on the other person. Ask questions that make them feel interesting and heard.

Example: "You mentioned you volunteered at an animal shelter recently, can you tell me more about that experience?"

  1. Be a Bookworm, Not a One-Page Skimmer: Don't skim the surface of conversation. Pay attention to details and ask follow-up questions that show you were listening.

Example: "I remember you mentioning you were learning a new language, how are your studies going?" This shows you not only listened but also care about their progress.

  1. Embrace the Power of "Wow!": Express genuine surprise and excitement when they share something new. This encourages them to elaborate and keeps the conversation engaging.

Example: "Wow, I didn't know you were such a talented artist! Can I see some of your work sometime?"

  1. Bridge the Gap with Shared Experiences: Find common ground, even if it's tangential. Use that to springboard into deeper conversation.

Example: They mention disliking a certain movie genre. You can reply, "Oh interesting, that's not usually my cup of tea either. But I did enjoy that one movie in that genre because..."

  1. Leave Them Wanting More: End conversations on a high note, while there's still a spark of curiosity. This makes them look forward to future interactions.

Example: "This has been a fascinating conversation, we should definitely chat again sometime! Maybe we could grab coffee and discuss [topic that emerged during the conversation] in more depth?"

Crafting captivating conversations is an art, and like any art form, it requires practice and finesse. But fear not, with these ten tips, you'll be well on your way to transforming from a small talk stumbler to a conversation connoisseur.

Here are some closing lines you can use to wrap up a conversation depending on the situation:

General:

  • "It was great chatting with you!"
  • "I enjoyed talking to you, [name]."
  • "This has been a pleasure. Have a great day/evening!"
  • "Talk to you soon!"

Looking to reconnect:

  • "We should definitely do this again sometime." (For casual settings)
  • "I'd love to hear more about [topic] another time. Perhaps we can connect over coffee?" (For a more professional setting)

Ending on a high note:

  • "That was a fascinating conversation! Thanks for sharing your thoughts."
  • "I learned a lot from you today. Thanks for your time."
  • "You've given me a lot to think about. Thanks for the insightful chat!"

Leaving politely:

  • "Well, I should get going. It was nice talking to you."
  • "I hate to cut this short, but I have to run. Have a good one!" (For casual settings)
  • "Thank you for your time. I apologize for having to wrap this up, but [brief explanation]." (For a more professional setting)

Open ended for future conversation:

  • "Is there anything else I can help you with today?" (For customer service situations)
  • "Feel free to reach out if you have any questions." (For professional settings)
  • "Let's keep in touch!" (For casual settings)

We've ditched the overused phrases and replaced them with fresh metaphors to guide you. Remember, conversations are journeys of discovery, not one-sided lectures. Be an engaged listener, a curious chef crafting questions, and a spotlight director, illuminating the unique experiences of others. Embrace the unexpected twists and turns, delve deeper than surface-level likes, and find common ground to build bridges of connection.

Leave your conversation partners wanting more, with a spark of curiosity to ignite future interactions. By incorporating these tips and closing lines like a seasoned artist adding finishing touches, you'll be well on your way to turning conversations into captivating connections. So go forth, and converse with confidence!

9 QUALITIES OF SUCCESSFUL PERSONS

Success stories of highly successful people have always fascinated me.

And a question emerges in my mind, that….

What leads them to success?

What drives them to reach to that level???

What keeps them going even in odd condition????

In order to get the answer of these in past years I have spoken, interviewed and even have gone through the autobiographies of highly successful people. I`ve observed the few things which are as follows….

SUCCESS doesn`t come easy and never happens by luck or an accident.

I am strong believer of the same and I am sure you must be of same opinion.

It is also true that every successful person doesn’t get the success in the same way as others.

The various researches determine that there are set of 9 qualities which are common in every successful person.

If you really wish to be successful in your life kindly check how many of the mentioned qualities you already have?

If any thing is missing, it is the right time to plough for getting fruits of the same in future.

It is same way whenever in garden you want the best yield you need to cultivate it in a proper way and therefore the same is true for you in cultivating the below mentioned qualities in you.

  1. THEY HAVE WELL DEFINED GOAL PACKED WITH BIG AND NOVEL IDEAS.

Till the time you have well defined goal, you will not be able to get the success or cannot become successful person and this would be like…

“RUNNING RACE WITHOUT FINISH LINE.”

Therefore true successful people not only have a meaningful goal packed with big and new ideas but they are focused towards to achieve it.

Believe me that this is one of the important attribute for any successful person.

  1. THEY HAVE STRONG DESIRE TO ATTAIN

Desire is the starting point and key to motivation of all success and achievement beyond ordinary.

It is a known fact that anything is possible if you have a strong mindset and DESIRE to do it.

The highly successful people love what they do and are highly motivated and have burning desire to achieve their planned goal.

  1. THEY REALLY WORK HARD TO ATTAIN THEIR GOAL.

It is known fact that success doesn’t come easily and never come with luck or accident. You need to work hard that too with proper planning.

I haven’t seen yet a person who doesn’t want success but how many are willing to put serious efforts, hard work and time to attain the same end with a question mark?

However success requires sacrifice, self discipline, preparation and character.

Also keep in mind that there is no substitute of hard work for the success in any field.

So if want to be successful, don’t shy away from hard work and master the fundamentals as mention above for the same.

  1. THEY ARE POSITIVE BELIEVERS

Positive believing is one of the best strategies for being successful and making a better future.

Moreover, one should keep in mind that POSITIVE BELIEVING is lot more than POSITIVE THINKING.

As POSITIVE BELIEVING is like programming your mind for success and is an attitude of confidence that comes with preparation whereas POSITIVE THINKING is simply a thought of a wishful dream without making efforts.

  1. THEY HAVE  INTEGRITY AND CHARACTER

“HONESTY IS THE BEST POLICY”

A successful person believes in this strongly because this integrity creates character and reflects what you are.

Character is the sum total of persons value, beliefs and personality.

The most valuable title for any successful person is considered to be having INTEGRITY and CHARACTER.

And a successful person always works for this and keeps all efforts in maintaining the same.

  1. THEY SHOW RESPONSIBILITY IN ODD CIRCUMSTANCES.

They are the people with character when they make any hard decision and they shoulder the responsibility and accountability hence stands by same.

Whereas ordinary people remains in their comfort zone and don’t accept responsibility and accountability but successful people show responsibility and accountability towards making any hard decision which being uncomfortable sometimes in case of failure but they stand by the same and accept the failure.

This quality is the one of key quality of successful person.

  1. THEY KEEP ON IMPROVING  BY UPDATING THEMSELVES

It has been noted that ordinary person stops learning new things once they pass out school/college or any professional training imparted by the organization however, the successful people always believe that learning doesn’t end with school/college and they remain the student in life forever.

Self education and quest for keep improving you by updating yourself is the most common attributes for success by successful people.

One has to be a good learner always. This is one of most important investment and makes everything possible for successful person.

  1. THEY HAVE STRONG POWER OF PERSITENCE AND RESILENCE.

First of all one should have belief that success is never achieved overnight. And journey of being successful is not easy too.

On the path of success one most of the time encounters failure, pain, rejection , criticism and negativity means lot of setbacks. But the winner or successful person has the ability to overcome all these and has all the potentials to bounce back with greater determination.

Persistence is a purpose, decision, commitment and determination and resilience is the power of bouncing back with greater will power. And a successful person  apply this mantra whole of the life and never feel rejected with any setbacks.

  1. THEY SERVE OTHERS AS SOMETHING OF VALUE

Successful people not only work for their own success but help and serve other also for their success.

Their help can be financial or imparting knowledge and skills required for any work.

They are the people with value and believe in the following….

TRY NOT TO BECOME A PERSON OF SUCCESS, BUT RATHER TRY TO BECOME PERSON OF VALUE- Albert Eintein

People always  get what they want. Owing to this, you should understand this before hand before your ship sinks.

If you live your life as most of the people do, you will get what other most of the people get.

Therefore in order to be successful make sure to develop these 9 qualities in you and make them as your habit.
